Services

The Amadeus is an old house bursting with character – lately, it’s been given new life. Visitors can look forward to a day drinking pool, a games room with a billiard table, a delicious Italian breakfast, outstanding focaccia, gelato, wine, and a South Tyrolean shop offering fresh drinks around the clock. While other hotels go out of their way to make things look retro, here everything is authentic. That’s how the owner Gottlieb likes it. He also likes giving tours of the building for fellow culture vultures. Kat & Jan will be welcoming guests to the Amadeus starting in summer 2022.

Ora is the Italian name for the village of Auer, home to around 4,000 people, 18 kilometres south of the regional capital Bolzano. The Suleiman elephant once visited this little market town, as did Kaiser Franz I. The legend of Ora is pretty interesting, too: once upon a time, the town was so wealthy it was known as the “Golden Town”. However, the locals led a wicked, ostentatious way of life, and so God decided to blight the city. Maybe he decided to spare us, though – we still live la bella vita here! That's AMORE.

Ora is in the very south of South Tyrol, and it’s significantly warmer here than it is up north. You can enjoy the sun, soak up the Italo vibes, and relax around the pool. There’s no shortage of great things on offer in the surrounding area, either. We’re only a 10-minute cycle away from Lake Caldaro, or five minutes by car. Lake Garda is only an hour down the motorway, too. The regional capital, Bolzano, is about 20 km to the north of the town.

07:00 - 10:30: Prima colazione, our all-Italian breakfast (included).

13:00 - 20:00: Spuntini e vini, with fresh gelato, focaccia and – of course – delicious Italian wine.

In the evenings: dine in any of the local pizzerias and trattorias; sometimes we fire up the grill, or cook a batch of pasta together, too.

Kat & Jan run the Leuchtenburg in Caldaro. This means people staying at Amadeus can also hire pedalos at the lake, relax in the 70s-style lakeside lido, and rent a picnic rowboat. Kat & Jan make sure that Amadeus guests can easily reach the Lago di Caldaro, a ten-minute cycle away.

Kat & Jan

That's amore. Kat & Jan have taken over the management of Amadeus from Gottlieb. They have some new ideas: highlighting the area’s Italo vibes, having fun together, and sipping on the odd glass or two of local vino. What more could you want?
